Based right in the heart of Chelmsford Essex The County Kitchen has a long standing reputation for excellent food and quality service, reflected in our recent AA Rosette award. Located only a few minutes from both the train station and bus station, The County Kitchen also has ample car parking space and being situated within The County Hotel also has accommodation should you require it. You can always feel free to arrive earlier than your booking and enjoy a drink in our bar situated next to the restaurant.

Our Chefs, under the watchful eye of Head Chef Stephen Cansell, produce an extensive ‘A la Carte’ menu which is available for lunch and dinner. Our cuisine is classic British food in a modern style, using only the best of British seasonal ingredients. Our breads, scones, pasta and ice cream are all homemade.

Our team go to great length to source the best that our local and national producers have to offer taking great care each month ensuring each and every ingredient is at the height of its growing season, but always maintaining genuine value for money. We even have our own fisherman who lands his line caught catch in Wivenhoe and brings it straight from the dock to our Kitchen. The County Kitchen also run an environmental policy to try and reduce the impact of the restaurant on the environment both locally and nationally.
